Madonna made a surprise appearance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival during Sabrina Carpenter’s Friday night headline set, joining the pop star on stage for a high-profile collaboration that thrilled festivalgoers.
The Queen of Pop appeared after Carpenter’s performance of Juno, as the intro to Vogue played and dancers struck iconic poses. Wearing matching blonde hair and lace corsets, the duo performed Madonna’s 1990 hit Vogue before moving into Like A Prayer and a new track reportedly linked to Madonna’s upcoming project.
Addressing the crowd, Madonna said it was a “full circle moment”, recalling her first Coachella appearance two decades ago in 2006. She also joked about performing alongside someone shorter than her for the first time, while Carpenter responded playfully, saying, “You can have whatever you want.”
The surprise collaboration came after days of speculation and followed Madonna’s confirmation of ‘Confessions II’, a sequel to her 2005 album ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’.
The appearance marked another memorable Coachella moment for Madonna, who has previously made guest appearances at the festival, including a viral cameo during Drake’s 2015 set.
Carpenter’s set is part of her first year as a Coachella headliner, after also bringing out comedian Will Ferrell during her opening weekend performance.
The festival continues across two weekends, with Justin Bieber and Karol G among the remaining headliners.
