Litton Das is doubtful for the opening match of the three-ODI series against Zimbabwe in Harare on July 6, according to a source close to the development.
The Bangladesh ODI squad left for Zimbabwe on Sunday, but Litton stayed back as he continues his rehabilitation from a left calf injury sustained during the final ODI against Australia.
The wicketkeeper-batter felt discomfort while working with BCB physio Delwar Hossain during a rehabilitation session. He subsequently underwent a scan, the results of which prevented him from travelling with the team. Another scan will be conducted in due course.
BCB physio Delwar Hossain who is working closely with Litton in this rehab process, however, refused to elaborate on the matter, saying, “Officially, everything will be announced, but Litton is still in the plans for the ODI series.”
When contacted by Times of Bangladesh, an official within the Bangladesh national cricket team setup said, “He is fine now. However, he felt pain while working with the physio. One scan has been done, which is why he did not travel with the team.”
However, if everything goes well and the scan report supports his rehabilitation, Litton could join the ODI squad in Harare on July 1 or 2.
“Yes, there is some uncertainty, but we will wait until the end,” the same official said when asked about Litton’s availability. “We have time, so let’s wait a bit more. If everything goes well, he will fly to Zimbabwe on July 1 or 2.”
Litton was rested for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe but was included in the ODI squad. He will not feature in the T20I series as he has been granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play for Galle Gallants in the Lanka Premier League.
