Actress Lima, who starred opposite the late Salman Shah in ‘Prem Juddho’ and ‘Kanyadan’, has claimed that tensions within the actor’s family centred around co-star Shabnur. She made the remarks in a recent interview reflecting on her memories of the 1990s screen icon.
“With great excitement I can say my life feels fulfilled because I was able to work with Salman Shah,” Lima said, noting that she appeared in two films alongside him. She recalled being unaware of the scale of Salman Shah’s popularity while they were working together.
“I never realised he had so many fans. When he died on September 6, 1996, I heard the next day that 18 girls, some papers said 28, had died because they couldn’t bear the news. Only then did I understand how big a celebrity he was,” she said.
Despite his fame, Lima described Salman as “a completely ordinary, uncomplicated and simple-hearted person”, adding that she had “many memories” from their shoots together.
Lima went on to claim that there had been “unrest” in Salman’s family related to actress Shabnur. “There was unrest in his family regarding Shabnur,” she said. “But his wife Samira would come to my shoots and treat me like a friend.”
Addressing the long-running controversy surrounding Salman Shah’s death, Lima said she still wants justice. “It hurts me that 29 years have passed and we still don’t know the truth. Whether he was killed or took his own life is still unclear. But I believe Salman could not commit suicide. I miss him a lot,” she said.
All claims made by Lima remain her personal allegations; the individuals mentioned have not publicly responded.
