Hamin Ahmed, a founding member of legendary band Miles, has questioned the lack of reciprocity in cultural exchanges after two concerts featuring Pakistani artistes were postponed in Dhaka over security and permission issues.
Kaavish’s ‘Wave Fest: Enjoy the Full Moon’, scheduled for 26 September, was postponed after organisers failed to secure approval. The show was to feature Kaavish with Shironamhin and Meghdol and had already faced a similar postponement.
The ‘mAhx Republic’ concert, scheduled for 25 September at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal, was also postponed. Ali Azmat, Mustafa Zahid and Jal were due to perform alongside James, Nemesis, Level Five and Shironamhin.
Hamin wrote on Facebook: “Tell me, how many Bangladeshi artistes or bands have performed in Pakistan so far? Or even in the last five years?”
He also questioned ticket sales before full approval, urging authorities to investigate why such incidents keep recurring.
