BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s physical condition remains “critical,” and she is going through a very precarious situation, said her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.
Khaleda remains under the close observation of doctors, he added.
Dr Zahid made the remarks during a briefing outside the gate of Evercare Hospital on Saturday night, following a meeting of the medical board formed for BNP chairperson’s treatment.
He mentioned that the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and his spouse Zubaida Rahman, were also present at the medical board meeting.
Dr Zahid added that Khaleda Zia’s physical condition deteriorated significantly after she was admitted to the hospital. Consequently, she was moved from a cabin to the CCU. She is now undergoing treatment in the ICU.
Therefore, it cannot be said that Khaleda’s physical condition has improved normally. Her physical condition is still critical. Dr Zahid expressed hope for a positive outcome if she can overcome this critical state with the doctors’ efforts.
A medical board comprising local and foreign specialist doctors, supervised by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder, is providing Khaleda Zia’s treatment. The BNP chairperson has been admitted to this hospital in Bashundhara since 23 November.
Following the Medical Board meeting, Tarique Rahman returned with his wife to their Gulshan residence. The BNP’s acting chairman had gone to the hospital from his mother-in-law’s house in Dhanmondi to visit his mother last night.
