The Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Khagrachari, Anwar Sadat, allocated election symbols on Wednesday to the candidates contesting the Khagrachari seat in the upcoming parliamentary election.
A total of 11 candidates are set to compete for the constituency. Among the registered political parties, candidates were assigned their respective party symbols.
The BNP’s Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan was allocated the Sheaf of Paddy (Dhaner Shish), while Md Eyakub Ali of Jamaat-e-Islami received the Scales (Daripalla). Mithila Roaza of the Jatiya Party was given the Plough (Langol), and Md Kawsar of Islami Andolan received the Hand Fan (Hat Pakha).
Other party-affiliated candidates include Md Nur Islam of Insaniyat Biplob Bangladesh, who was allocated the Apple symbol, and Md Mostafa of the Bangladesh Muslim League, who received the Hurricane. Deenmay Roaza of Gono Odhikar Parishad was assigned the Truck, while Ushyapru Marma of the Bangladesh Minority Janata Party was given the Rocket symbol.
Regarding the independent contenders, Samiran Dewan, a rebel independent candidate from the BNP, was allocated the football symbol. Of the other two independent candidates, Dharma Jyoti Chakma was assigned the Horse, and Jiruna Tripura received the Pitcher (Kolas).
