Appellate Division senior judge Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will serve as acting Chief Justice from 9April to 16 during the overseas visit of Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury.
Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury is scheduled to visit Malaysia and Singapore during the period, according to a notice issued by the Law and Justice Division.
Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will perform the duties of the Chief Justice until the incumbent returns and resumes office, the notice said.
The notice, signed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Liaquet Ali Molla, said the appointment has been approved by the President under Article 97 of the Constitution.
