Jennifer Lawrence has shared candid insight into filming intimate scenes, saying she finds filming such scenes relatively easier with strangers. In a recent interview, the Oscar winner discussed her experience filming ‘Die My Love’ with Robert Pattinson.
Lawrence said the lack of prior friendship with Pattinson made intimate scenes less awkward and professionally clearer. She explained that familiarity can complicate boundaries during such scenes and increase discomfort for actors, comparing the experience to ‘The Hunger Games’, where kissing close friend Josh Hutcherson felt more awkward. She also recalled an unusual rehearsal led by ‘Die My Love’ director Lynne Ramsay.
Before shooting an intense scene, Ramsay asked Lawrence and Pattinson to attend an interpretive dance session. The exercise aimed to build physical and emotional connection but initially caused embarrassment.
Lawrence admitted both actors felt deeply uncomfortable and joked that neither of them could dance. She said the awkwardness ultimately helped break the ice before filming more demanding scenes.
In Die My Love, Lawrence plays Grace, a young mother who unravels psychologically in rural Montana. Pattinson stars as Jackson, her partner, who grows increasingly worried about her mental decline.
