Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that those who were able to return to the country due to the “July Warriors,” are now neglecting and denying the contributions of those very individuals.
Speaking at a public rally at the Lakshmipur Government Adarsh Samad School field on Friday as part of an election tour, Shafiqur stated that while some people are dreaming of ruling the country because of these warriors, they are currently being treated with contempt by a certain political party.
Directing his remarks toward the BNP, the Jamaat chief asserted that the Election Commission (EC) is the relevant authority to oversee any breaches of the electoral code of conduct.
“Who are you to see to it?” he questioned, further accusing the BNP of carrying out subversive activities to obstruct Jamaat’s progress. He emphasised that the party would not accept any obstacles in its mission to liberate the people.
During the gathering, Shafiqur made significant development promises for the region, including the reopening of Asia’s largest fish breeding centre located in Lakshmipur. He also committed to the construction of a dam on the Meghna River should Jamaat-e-Islami be voted into power.
The Jamaat Ameer concluded the assembly by calling on the public to ensure a “Yes” victory in the upcoming referendum.
