Bangladesh have received a timely boost ahead of their opening Test against Australia, with Litton Kumar Das declared fit and available for the first match of the series by the Bangladesh cricket board. Prior to that, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also said about Litton being 100% fit.
Litton has been cleared to play in the Test, which begins tomorrow, giving Bangladesh another experienced option in their batting line-up. His availability will be particularly important as Bangladesh prepare for a challenging series against Australia.
Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has also passed his fitness test and has been declared fit. He will fly to Australia tonight to join the Test squad and begin preparations for the second Test.
Shoriful’s return provides Bangladesh with another option in their pace attack. Having completed his fitness assessment successfully, the left-arm seamer will now travel to Australia and work with the squad ahead of the second match of the series.
However, Jaker Ali Anik and Musfik Hasan will return to Bangladesh. Both players will begin preparations for Bangladesh A’s upcoming tour of South Africa.
The latest updates mean Bangladesh will enter the first Test with Litton available for selection, while Shoriful will remain unavailable for the opening match as he focuses on his recovery and preparations for the second Test.
The first Test against Australia starts on 13 August at 6:00 am BST.
