Afghanistan batter Rahmat Shah is set to miss the third and final ODI against Bangladesh on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi due to a calf injury.
Rahmat sustained the injury during the second ODI but made a brief and valiant return to the crease after Afghanistan lost nine wickets. He could only face one delivery before the team was bowled out for 190. Despite his limited contribution in that innings, Afghanistan secured a commanding 81-run victory, sealing the three-match series 2-0 with a game to spare.
Afghanistan are now aiming for a clean sweep to avenge their T20 series whitewash against Bangladesh earlier in the tour.
“He (Rahmat) unfortunately succumbed to his injury so he is out now. We will do all the right things in terms of imaging and stuff tomorrow. I think he is going to be out for some time,” said team physio Nirmalan Thanabalasingam.
Rahmat recently became the first Afghan batsman to reach 4,000 ODI runs and played a vital role in the first match with a key half-century.
The third ODI will be played on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
