Participants enhanced their knowledge of environmental, social and governance (ESC) principles and reporting at a training programme organised by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB).
The training titled “Leading with ESG & Sustainability: Strategy, Compliance & Business Excellence” was held at Hotel Holiday Inn in Dhaka for ICSB members, corporate officials and other professionals, said a press release on Sunday.
The programme was inaugurated by ICSB President Mohammad Shahajahan, who said sustainability has become an integral part of modern business practices and organisational decision-making. ICSB Sustainability and ESG Sub-Committee Chairman Feroz Iqbal Faruque delivered the welcome speech, while Vice President Sharif Hasan introduced the resource persons and outlined the training objectives.
The sessions were conducted by ICSB Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury, Sajed Meer Chartered Accountants Chief Executive Officer Meer Sajed Ul Basher, ESG Institute Bangladesh Executive Director Shadman Sakib Anik and Dhaka University Professor Suborna Barua. The resource persons provided an overview of ESG fundamentals, governance and sustainability reporting standards including GRI, IFRS-S1 and IFRS-S2.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session where participants raised questions about practical challenges of implementing ESG practices. Shahajahan handed over certificates to participants. Council Member Abdullah Al Mamun delivered the vote of thanks.
