LankaBangla Securities PLC has partnered with Markopolo AI to develop artificial intelligence-powered investment services, aiming to make market analysis, portfolio management and financial advice more accessible to retail investors.
The companies signed a strategic agreement at Dhaka Sheraton on Sunday under an initiative titled End-to-End Investment Journey—Powered by AI, combining LankaBangla’s market data and brokerage experience with AI-based analysis and automation.
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Commissioner Md Nafeez Al Tarik said AI-based robo-advisory services could bridge the gap between wealthy investors who can afford professional financial advice and small savers who often cannot.
He said such platforms could improve access to investment information for young investors and people in remote areas, potentially encouraging longer-term stock market participation.
Recalling the difficulties of depositing Tk500 at a Sonali Bank branch during his school years, Tarik said financial services must adapt to the digital expectations of Generation Z and the emerging Generation Alpha.
LankaBangla Securities said the partnership would use financial data to generate investment analysis, assess market conditions and support portfolio construction and investment decisions.
About 60 per cent of the brokerage’s transactions already take place through its online portal, providing an established digital channel for the proposed services.
The company also stressed the importance of data security, transparency, responsible AI use and regulatory compliance.
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Managing Director Nuzhat Anwar said the market had struggled to attract younger investors in recent years and that technology could help address the gap.
She said the DSE was developing a new website, including its second phase, and expected it to launch by the end of December.
DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh President Saiful Islam said ordinary investors needed more than financial statements to assess companies.
He pointed to missing information on some company websites and called for accessible industry data and stronger financial education, particularly for young and small investors.
LankaBangla Securities Chairman Mahbubul Anam said AI could help investors analyse information, evaluate opportunities and make faster decisions while improving customer service.
LankaBangla Securities Managing Director Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and Markopolo AI CEO Tasfia Tasbin also attended the event, alongside representatives of capital-market institutions.
