An army brigadier general and two deputy inspectors general (DIG) of police have been appointed as directors of the National Security Intelligence (NSI). The officers have been posted to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on deputation.
The appointments were announced on Sunday in separate notifications signed by Mohammad Noor-e-Alam, deputy secretary of the Deputation-1 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, by order of the president.
The orders directed the Bangladesh Armed Forces and Bangladesh Police to place the respective officers under the PMO to facilitate their deputation.
The newly appointed officers are Brigadier General Mohammad Monowar Hossain, DIG Aminul Islam, and DIG Dr Mohammad Abdul Kader.
Brigadier General Mohammad Monowar Hossain, who is currently serving in the Bangladesh Army, has been deputed to the PMO as a director of the NSI.
DIG Aminul Islam, currently serving as the DIG of Rangpur Range, and DIG Dr Mohammad Abdul Kader, currently serving as the DIG of Special Branch (SB), have also been appointed to the post of NSI director on deputation under the PMO.
According to the notifications, these orders have been issued in the public interest and will take effect immediately.
