Janata Bank PLC on Sunday rejected reports that its website or core server had been hit by a cyberattack, saying the temporary shutdown of its public website was a precautionary step taken after a global security warning.

The state-owned lender said no hacking or cyberattack had taken place and protested reports suggesting otherwise.

Its clarification came after several news outlets and online portals published reports on 25 October saying Janata Bank’s website had been targeted in a cyberattack.

According to the bank, the website had been temporarily taken offline for general users from Thursday, 22 October, during the public holidays as part of additional security measures.
