The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) organised a training programme titled “Mastering Bancassurance: Strategy, Compliance and Business Development” in Dhaka, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of members, students, corporate officials and other professionals, according to a press release said. The session was held on Saturday, 4 July 2026 at the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Dhaka.
The programme focused on strengthening professional understanding of bancassurance frameworks, regulatory compliance and business development practices in Bangladesh’s insurance sector, bringing together industry experts and participants from leading corporate houses.
ICSB Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Md Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech and moderated the session. Training Coordinator and Council Member Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun FCS inaugurated the programme, introducing resource persons and outlining its objectives.
The technical sessions were conducted by Md Abul Kalam Azad, Faculty Member of Bangladesh Insurance Academy; Md Apel Mahmud, Member (Life) of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA); Dr Hasina Sheykh, Professor at the Department of Banking and Insurance, University of Dhaka; and Ali Reza Iftekhar, former Managing Director of Eastern Bank PLC.
Speakers provided an in-depth overview of key topics including the regulatory framework of bancassurance and general insurance products, life insurance concepts and products, the insurance landscape in Bangladesh and fundamentals of bancassurance, as well as ethical client services and trust-building in financial advisory.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion where participants raised practical questions that were addressed by the resource persons. A large number of ICSB members, students and senior officials from leading corporate organisations attended the programme.
Certificates were handed over to participants by ICSB President Hossain Sadat FCS at the end of the event.
