The Dhaka Regional Committee (DRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) elected its new office bearers for the 2026–2027 term at its general meeting held on 23 June 2026 at the ICAB Auditorium in Dhaka, according to a press release said.
The meeting elected Md Kamruzzaman FCA as Chairman, Mohammad Eklas Uddin FCA as Secretary and Rashidul Islam FCA as Treasurer for the new term, marking a leadership transition within the regional committee.
Md Kamruzzaman FCA is a Fellow member of ICAB and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the Nov–Dec 2014 session. He is currently Managing Partner of M Rashid Zaman & Co, Chartered Accountants, and previously served as Associate Director at KPMG Bangladesh and Assistant Manager at KPMG Singapore. He also held roles as Financial Controller at Avery Dennison Bangladesh and Syngenta Bangladesh.
He is a certified Income Tax Practitioner and VAT Consultant listed by the National Board of Revenue. He completed his BBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Dhaka and has undertaken professional training in international tax, transfer pricing, ISA and IFRSs across Hong Kong, Singapore, India and Thailand. He has also served as team leader in KPMG training programmes in Thailand (2015) and Hong Kong (2017), and worked in transaction modelling and international tax under KPMG Singapore leadership.
Mohammad Eklas Uddin FCA, also a Fellow of ICAB, qualified in the Nov–Dec 2013 session and holds an MCom in Accounting from Jagannath University. He currently serves as Principal and CEO of M Eklas & Co, Chartered Accountants, and has over 20 years of professional experience across Energypac, Opsonin Pharma and East West University.
He also serves as Independent Director of Union Capital Limited and Unicap Securities Limited and is a member of the Executive Committee of SAHIC Dhaka. He is additionally associated with JBCCI and the Finance Committee of South Asian University in New Delhi. He has participated in professional engagements across Australia, India, Thailand, Singapore and Nepal.
Rashidul Islam FCA, the newly elected Treasurer, has around 15 years of corporate experience and currently serves as Audit and Process Lead at SQUARE Food & Beverage Ltd. He previously held roles at GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh (now Unilever Consumer Care), Unique Group, Robi Axiata Ltd and US-Bangla Airlines Ltd, focusing on financial reporting, governance, risk management and analytics.
He holds BBA and MBA degrees in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Dhaka and began his professional career with Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co. He is also engaged in professional training, public speaking and career counselling in finance, strategy and organisational development.
Other members of the DRC–ICAB include Mahmudur Rahman FCA, Md Akizur Rahman FCA, Fahmida Khan FCA, Md Mustaq Ahmed FCA, Md Maksodur Rahman FCA and Md Main Uddin FCA.
