A three-member delegation from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) visited the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) in Dhaka on 4 July 2026 to observe the country’s electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, focusing on its operational framework and key functionalities, according to a press release said.
During the visit, held at BPPA headquarters in Dhaka, the AFD team held discussions with BPPA Director Mohammed Salah Uddin, where both sides underscored the importance of aligning procurement processes for AFD-financed projects in Bangladesh with the national e-GP platform.
The BPPA Director briefed the delegation on the mandatory registration process for users of the e-GP system. He noted that since its introduction in 2011, a total of 24 development partners have registered with the platform, reflecting its growing acceptance among international financing agencies.
The delegation was also given a detailed demonstration of the system by Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan, Team Leader of the Enhancement, Operation and Maintenance (EOM) unit of the e-GP system. The presentation highlighted end-to-end digital procurement processes and the platform’s role in enhancing transparency, efficiency, accountability and competition in public procurement.
The AFD delegation expressed interest in further harmonisation of procurement procedures for projects financed by the agency in Bangladesh with the national digital procurement framework, according to the statement.
Officials said the visit formed part of ongoing engagement between development partners and Bangladesh’s procurement authorities to strengthen digital governance in public procurement systems.
