A fire that broke out at a courier warehouse in Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s (HSIA) cargo village on Saturday was contained by the Fire Service at 4:55pm on Sunday.
The fire, which started at around 2:1pm on Saturday, was eventually brought under control after a nearly seven-hour battle with 37 fire fighter units from different forces.
The cargo village is a vital hub for Bangladesh’s import-export activities, handling goods in various sectors, including ready-made garments, courier services, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products. Experts fear that such a fire could significantly impact on the export-oriented industries.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
