Mohammedan Sporting Club stormed to a nine-wicket win over Agrani Bank Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday after Saifuddin and Mushfik Hasan ripped through the batting order before Tawhid Hridoy blasted 71 from 24 balls.
The one-day match finished inside 44.3 overs after Mohammedan chased 134 in only 11.3 overs. The win gave Mohammedan their fifth victory in six matches and lifted them to the top of the table.
Agrani Bank never settled after losing early wickets. Zahid Javed fought back with 44 from 70 balls at number five, while Nasir Hossain scored 25 and Mahfizul Islam Robin added 23. No other batter crossed 20.
Saifuddin led the collapse with figures of 4-18 from seven overs, including two maidens. Mushfik matched the wicket tally and returned 4-37 from eight overs. Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam claimed the remaining two wickets as Agrani folded for 133 in 33 overs.
Mohammedan attacked from the start during the chase. Anamul Haque Bijoy struck 22 from 16 balls before departing in the fourth over with the score on 27.
Hridoy then took complete control alongside Mohammad Naim Sheikh. The pair added an unbeaten 107 runs from only 45 balls and finished the chase with ease.
Hridoy reached his fifty in just 17 deliveries. He smashed 10 fours and four sixes during his brutal innings of 71 from 24 balls. Naim supported him with an unbeaten 39 from 29 deliveries, including four fours and two sixes.
Mohammedan barely slowed down after the powerplay and kept scoring through straight hitting and aggressive strokeplay square of the wicket. Agrani’s bowlers failed to recover after Hridoy counterattacked against both pace and spin.
