The holy Shab-e-Barat, known as the night of fortune, was observed across the country on Tuesday night with religious fervour and devotion.
Marking the occasion, the Islamic Foundation organised a series of programmes at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital.
The programmes included waz, doa mahfil, special prayers, recitation from the Holy Quran, and Hamd and Naat at the mosque on Tuesday night.
Religious sermons were also delivered at mosques across the country after Maghrib prayers, while special munajat was held after Isha prayers to mark the night.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus issued a message on the occasion, extending greetings to Muslims in Bangladesh and around the world.
Throughout the night, large numbers of devotees visited nearby graveyards, offering doa and munajat for the eternal peace of their departed relatives.
Many people also distributed money, food and sweetmeats among the poor and destitute as part of the observance.
