Health officials on Thursday reported 565 new dengue cases and three deaths in the past 24 hours.
“We recorded the deaths of three dengue patients in the 24 hours ending at 8am today,” a spokesperson for the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, adding that 565 fresh infections were confirmed during the same period.
DGHS data shows that one of the latest deaths occurred in an area under Dhaka North City Corporation, while two fatalities were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Of the 565 new cases, 48 were admitted in Barishal division, 101 in Chattogram division, 67 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 253 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 33 in Khulna, 26 in Mymensingh , 28 in Rajshahi, four in Rangpur and five in Sylhet, according to the DGHS statement.
Since the start of this year’s outbreak, Bangladesh has so far recorded 394 dengue-related deaths and 96,627 infections.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people across the country.
