The High Court on Tuesday declared the nomination of Sarwar Alamgir, BNP candidate for Chattogram-2 (Fatikchhari) constituency, as valid.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Asif Hasan passed the order, further directing the authorities to restore his candidacy.
Senior Advocate Ahsanul Karim and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal represented the petitioner during the hearing. Meanwhile, Barrister S M Shahriar Kabir appeared on behalf of the Jamaat-nominated candidate.
The court’s decision followed a writ petition filed by Sarwar Alamgir seeking to regain his eligibility to contest the polls in Chattogram-2 seat.
