National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Nasiruddin Patwary has questioned the Election Commission’s ability to hold a fair election.
While campaigning for the Dhaka-8 constituency on Tuesday morning, Patwary raised serious allegations against the EC’s integrity and said its members should be brought to justice.
He said the commission has been “scoring a goal” ahead of the 13th parliamentary election.
Despite the EC being a constitutional body tasked with ensuring fair polls, Patwary claimed it has instead chosen the path of the “biggest corruption in history.”
He further alleged that the commission has violated its constitutional duty by granting nominations to loan defaulters. Tickets have been issued to black marketeers, gamblers, and loan defaulters, specifically noting that 50 loan defaulters and dual citizens have received clearance to contest, he added.
Patwary described these actions as the commission’s most significant act of corruption.
