BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister’s adviser Mirza Abbas left Dhaka for Malaysia on Wednesday for a routine health check‑up.

He departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Bangladesh Biman flight around 11:45am, accompanied by his wife Afroza Abbas.

The BNP Media Cell confirmed the information on its Facebook page.

Earlier, on 2 September, Abbas returned to the country after more than five months of treatment and rehabilitation in Singapore and Malaysia.

On 11 March, Abbas suddenly lost consciousness during iftar at his Shahjahanpur residence. He was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital, where the following day a team of neurospecialists performed surgery on his brain.

For advanced treatment, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 March and remained under care at Singapore General Hospital for about a month. As his condition improved, doctors advised transferring him to Prince Court Hospital in Malaysia, where he was admitted on 14 April.
