The High Court (HC) on Thursday granted six months’ bail to former lawmaker Abdur Rahman Badi in a murder case linked to incidents that occurred in July and August.
A bench comprising Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Molla and Justice Faisal Hasan Arif issued the order.
Abdur Rahman Badi, a senior leader of the Awami League, was elected as lawmaker from Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) constituency in the 9th and 10th National Parliament elections.
He was arrested on 20 August 2024 from Panchlaish, Chattogram, by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in connection with an attempted murder case.
Due to a prior conviction in a corruption case, Badi was not nominated by the Awami League for the 11th and 12th parliamentary elections.
Instead, his wife, Shahin Akhter, received the party’s nomination and was elected as MP in both terms.
