The date for submitting the investigation report in the murder case of Inquilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi has once again been postponed, now set for 17 May.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam rescheduled the date on Tuesday after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to file the report.
This marks the 13th deferral of the report submission, said Md Mamun Hossain, assistant sub‑inspector of the prosecution team.
Earlier, on 6 January, DB Inspector Faisal Ahmed submitted a charge sheet against 17 accused. On 15 January, case complainant Abdullah Al Jaber, member‑secretary of Inquilab Moncho, filed a petition expressing dissatisfaction. That day, the court ordered the CID to conduct a reinvestigation.
According to the case statement, Hadi was shot by assailants on a motorcycle at 2:20pm on 12 December on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Model Police Station.
He sustained bullet injuries to the head and below the right ear. He was treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at Evercare Hospital.
As his condition worsened, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 December for advanced treatment. He died a week later, on 18 December.
Following the incident, Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case at Paltan Police Station on 14 December, which was later converted into a murder case.
