State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has stated that the government remains vigilant to ensure that no extortion occurs in sacrificial animal markets or on vehicles transporting livestock.
He confirmed that appropriate measures have been implemented to address these concerns.
The state minister made these remarks while responding to queries from journalists on Friday afternoon, following the inauguration of the final match of the ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ at the Tangail Shahid Maruf Stadium.
Addressing the supply of livestock for the upcoming festivities, the state minister noted that domestic reserves currently exceed demand. Consequently, he emphasised that there is no requirement to import sacrificial animals from abroad, as the government is capable of ensuring a supply that meets the nation’s needs.
Regarding market oversight, Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced that veterinary doctors will be stationed at every market to ensure proper management.
On the issue of preventing the entry of animals through illegal channels, the state minister asserted that no sacrificial animals would be allowed to enter the country through illicit routes.
He further informed that law enforcement agencies and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces stationed in border areas have been alerted to this directive.
