The government is adopting various women-friendly policies to create a supportive environment for women, Prime Minister Education and Employment Adviser Mahdi Amin said on Saturday.
He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the two-day “Vicky’s Mina Bazar 2026” held at the main campus auditorium of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College on Bailey Road in Dhaka.
The fair was organised by the Viqarunnisa Alumni Association as part of year-long celebrations marking the institution’s 75th anniversary and ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.
Mahdi Amin said the government is building an integrated ecosystem for women through a “one-stop solution” project to help rural women establish small and cottage industries.
He said under the Family Card programme, Tk2,500 will be provided monthly in the name of women.
Various forms of state support, including tax waivers, will also be provided for women entrepreneurs, he said.
He also said arrangements will be made to provide health and legal assistance for women at the upazila level to ensure their safety.
Among others present at the programme were Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Acting Principal Majeda Begum, heads of different branches, teachers, Viqarunnisa Alumni Association President Barrister Iffat Gias and Executive Director Afsana Alamgir Khan, along with members of the executive committee and FBT.
In her welcome speech, Viqarunnisa Alumni Association Executive Director Afsana Alamgir Khan said the organisation aims to advance women into future leadership roles.
She said this year’s “Vicky’s Mina Bazar 2026” was organised to highlight the spirit of friendship and the aspirations of women entrepreneurs.
Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Acting Principal Majeda Begum said the institution is working to develop itself into a world-class educational institution through improving curriculum standards and creating a learner-friendly environment.
Viqarunnisa Alumni Association President Iffat Gias thanked participants and requested the chief guest to consider making the admission process of Viqarunnisa Noon School lottery-free.
She said the association will cooperate with the Education Ministry to improve education standards and carry out various initiatives.
At the end of the programme, the chief guest presented crests to women entrepreneurs for the best stalls and interacted with them.
About 45 stalls operated by women entrepreneurs from Viqarunnisa participated in this year’s Mina Bazar.
The stalls displayed various products including local and foreign sarees, ready-made garments, modern jewellery, cosmetics and home décor items, attracting visitors.
