Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Tuesday asserted that the current government was formed and is conducting all its activities in strict accordance with the Constitution.
He further emphasised that the government is 100 percent committed to the ‘July Charter’ and pledged its full implementation.
“We came following the Constitution, and we will move forward following the Constitution,” the Minister said while addressing a discussion, prayer, and Iftar Mahfil at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) auditorium.
The programme, titled “Expectations of the Lawyer Society from the Current Government in Establishing Democracy, Rule of Law, Protection of Human Rights and Good Governance,” was organised by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum.
Responding to demands from Jamaat-e-Islami regarding the necessity of a separate oath, the Home Minister dismissed the claims as being made through “sheer force of will.” He reiterated that the government remains committed to the constitutional framework.
Taking a swipe at critics, Ahmed remarked that those who are now vocal with their criticism were, until recently, signing documents with specific notations after the election to secure various advantages.
