To ensure the implementation of the government’s election manifesto pledge of “fast and reliable internet for all” and provide more cost-effective benefits to customers using international bandwidth, the state-owned enterprise Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC) has announced two special incentive packages.
Under this new initiative, ISPs, IIGs, and other telecom operators will have the opportunity to use international bandwidth at lower costs.
Under the first package, a special bonus facility will be provided for new IPLC capacity purchases on the Cox’s Bazar-Singapore (Tuas) route of the SEA-ME-WE 4 submarine cable system. In this case, if any prepaid customer purchases 200G of new capacity, they will be given an additional 100G capacity free of charge.
Similarly, for a 10G new capacity purchase, another 10G capacity will be provided as a bonus for each 10G purchased. The offer will only apply to new additional capacity purchases and will be provided on a “first come, first served” basis until capacity lasts. This package will be effective from Tuesday.
Additionally, a “Limited Destination Bonus Bandwidth” package has been launched for prepaid customers with “No Outstanding” dues under the Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC IP transit service. Under this package, customers will receive up to 70 percent free bonus limited destination bandwidth, subject to specified conditions.
This facility will be provided from BSCPLC’s Kuakata or Cox’s Bazar PoP and will apply to destination bandwidth of the company’s existing connected CDN providers. This package will be effective from 1 April 2026.
Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC, a state-owned enterprise operating under the Posts and Telecommunications Division, has stated that these new incentive packages will enable the country’s internet service providers to use international bandwidth at more affordable rates (data below Tk90 per megabit) and will play a positive role in the development of an ICT-based and knowledge-driven economy.
