The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has decided to increase the price of gold after three consecutive rounds of reductions.

Under the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been raised by Tk2,158 per bhori, bringing the valuation to Tk238,121.

According to a press release issued by the organisation on Thursday morning, these prices became effective from 10am today.

BAJUS stated that the price adjustment was necessitated by a rise in the cost of pure gold (locally known as “tejabi” gold) in the local market.

Following this revision, the price for a bhori (11.664 grams) of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk227,331, while 18-carat gold is now priced at Tk 194,847. The price of traditional (Sanatan) gold has been fixed at Tk158,689 per bhori.

Statistics show that gold prices have been adjusted 67 times so far this year, consisting of 36 increases and 31 decreases. This follows the trend of 2025, where the market saw 93 adjustments, including 64 price hikes and 29 reductions.

In contrast, silver prices have remained unchanged following this latest announcement. At present, 22-carat silver is retailing at Tk5,657 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk5,365, and 18-carat at Tk4,607.

Traditional silver continues to be traded at Tk3,441 per bhori. Silver prices have undergone 39 adjustments this year, with 21 increases and 18 decreases, compared to 13 total adjustments in 2025.
