Garment workers of Nassa Group staged a protest and blocked Mohakhali-Tejgaon road on Tuesday morning, demanding the payment of outstanding salaries, leave encashment, and other arrears.
The workers took up positions on the road in front of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station around 11am.
The demonstration involved employees across all levels, from helpers to factory managers, representing three units under Nassa Mainland: Nassa Knit Ltd, Nassa Apparels Ltd, and Nassa Western Dresses Ltd.
According to their written demands, the protesters are seeking the settlement of salary arrears for May 2026, leave money for 2025, and area bills from December of the same year. They have also stipulated that notice pay-release must be cleared by 10 June.
The workers have demanded 120 days of wages and allowances for the subsequent four months, alongside 100 per cent service benefits in accordance with Bangladesh Labour Act. They have set a deadline of 20 June for these payments to be processed.
The employees also called on the authorities to ensure no form of harassment is directed at them regarding the settlement of their dues, specifically citing police cases, court appearances, threats, and physical or mental torture.
