Ambassador of France to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, has paid a courtesy call on Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hussain.
They discussed the shared interests of France and Bangladesh in further strengthening cooperation in the shipping sector through both bilateral and multilateral engagements, in order to tap into the strong potential for trade between the two countries.
In the meeting, they agreed on the need to defend freedom of navigation and respect the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region, of which France is a part.
The ambassador also highlighted Bangladesh’s positive contributions to peacekeeping operations and reiterated the need for countries such as France and Bangladesh – both of which have chosen the path of peace and dialogue – to stand together against all forms of aggression, including that perpetrated by Russia in Ukraine, as well as any violation of international law.
