Bangladeshi singer Rabi Chowdhury has been appointed peace and goodwill ambassador of MCIF, a US-based organisation affiliated with the United Nations, for two years.
The organisation works on peace, humanitarian issues and human empowerment. During a recent visit to the United States, Chowdhury received his appointment letter along with an international honour recognising his contributions to humanity, leadership and social welfare.
He was also honoured with the ‘Platinum HOS Humanitarian Ultimate in Achievement’ award at the Celebrity Red Carpet Gala and Fashion Week in Manhattan. The award recognised his contributions to humanitarian work, leadership, excellence, global impact and positive social change.
“I will try to carry out this responsibility with sincerity. Receiving such a role is a matter of honour, pride and joy for an artiste. This responsibility will also inspire me to become more involved in humanitarian and social work,” Chowdhury said.
He thanked MCIF founder and CEO Dr Monica Sanchez.
Chowdhury began his professional music career on 28 March 1990 with the album Prem Dao.
Over more than three decades, he has performed in the US, Canada, UK, France, India, Malaysia, South Korea and several other countries. He continues to perform regularly on stage.
