Bangladesh and France are moving to accelerate the implementation of key environmental projects, with senior officials meeting to streamline financing and overcome administrative hurdles.
The push to fast-track French-backed climate initiatives was the focus of a bilateral meeting between Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources Syeda Rizwana Hasan and French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet.
The meeting was held Tuesday at the Bangladesh Secretariat, according to a press release.
Ambassador Séré-Charlet reaffirmed France’s commitment to a broad climate agenda in Bangladesh, a partnership that spans adaptation, biodiversity protection, and direct budget support for implementation, according to details of the discussion.
Rizwana Hasan emphasised the need for more efficient internal processes to ensure timely project execution. She specifically called for a clear list of initiatives that require swift departmental clearance and stressed the urgency of finalising all pending project documents, the press release stated.
Both sides concurred that continued high-level engagement is critical to advancing their shared priorities in climate mitigation and adaptation.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary for Climate Change Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, and Joint Secretary Lubna Yeasmin, alongside senior officials from the French Embassy.
