Netflix has released the trailer for Lust Stories 3, the third instalment in its anthology series exploring love, desire, marriage and complicated relationships. The film will premiere on the streaming platform on 18 September.
According to NDTV, the trailer moves between four separate stories directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj.
The ensemble cast includes Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Madan, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Siddharth, Ali Fazal, Sana Thampi and Gurfateh Pirzada.
The preview introduces characters dealing with marital tensions, attraction, intimacy and the difficulty of expressing what they want. One memorable exchange features a woman comparing women to candles rather than light bulbs, saying they burn and melt instead of simply switching on and off.
Aditi Rao Hydari’s character is seen discussing how certain subjects can be interpreted differently depending on their context and presentation. The conversation takes an unexpected turn when a student questions her intentions.
The trailer also brings humour into the mix. In one scene, Konkona Sen Sharma and Radhika Apte discuss a romantic situation involving “Min and Jin”, prompting Radhika to remind her that they are in Kandivali, not Korea.
Radhika Madan and Ali Fazal appear to be navigating a troubled marriage, while Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth portray characters with their own perspectives on relationships. Vijay Varma and Abhishek Banerjee also feature in the anthology.
Like the earlier films, Lust Stories 3 follows a four-director, four-story format, with each segment offering a different take on love, sex, desire and intimacy.
The franchise began with Lust Stories in 2018, which featured segments directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar. Its cast included Radhika Apte, Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal.
The second instalment, Lust Stories 2, arrived on Netflix in 2023. It was directed by R Balki, Konkona Sen Sharma, Amit Ravindernath Sharma and Sujoy Ghosh, and starred Tamannaah Bhatia, Mrunal Thakur, Kajol, Neena Gupta and Vijay Varma.
