The Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi paid a courtesy call on the Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam on Tuesday.
According to a press release, the meeting was held at the minister’s office within the Road Transport and Highways Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat, where the high commissioner greeted the minister with a floral bouquet.
During the discussions, the minister emphasised that Bangladesh and India are historically close neighbours. He expressed his expectation to advance bilateral relations in a positive and fruitful manner, prioritising cooperation, bilateral ties, and the welfare of the people of both nations.
He noted that Bangladesh remains sincere about further strengthening existing relations so that citizens of both countries can reap the benefits of cooperation, expressing hope that the relationship will progress further based on mutual respect and partnership.
In response, Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi reiterated India’s deep interest and sincerity in consistently moving bilateral relations forward in a positive and constructive direction. He expressed his commitment to strengthening these ties by focusing on the mutual welfare of the people of both countries and prioritising mutual interests.
The high commissioner also highlighted the shared cultural heritage, historical connections, and strong people-to-people bonds that exist between Bangladesh and India. The two sides discussed various issues of mutual interest and explored potential avenues to bolster future cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Railways Secretary Md Fahimul Islam, Bridges Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Mohammed Ziaul Haque, Ministry of Shipping Secretary Zakaria, and the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pawan Badhe, alongside other senior officials.
