The measles outbreak continues to escalate across the country. According to the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services, six more people have died with measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours.
However, the directorate reported that the number of confirmed measles deaths in the past 24 hours is two.
According to the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 98 people have died with suspected measles since 15 March. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed measles deaths stands at 16.
It is worth noting that the directorate had previously reported nine confirmed deaths, but with updated information, seven more have been added, bringing the total to 16.
As the infection rate continues to rise, 787 new suspected measles patients have been identified in the last 24 hours. Of these, 60 have been confirmed as measles cases.
From 15 March to 4 April, the total number of suspected measles patients in the country has risen to 6,476, of which 826 have been confirmed.
Divisional analysis shows that the death rate and infection intensity are highest in Dhaka division. Of the four suspected measles deaths in the last 24 hours, three are from Dhaka division.
Currently, 4,628 suspected measles patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, and 2,654 have recovered and returned home.
