Eight more people have died of measles across Bangladesh in the 24 hours from 8am on 15 September to 8am on 16 September.
During the same period, 1,239 new suspected measles cases and 81 confirmed cases were identified nationwide.
These findings were disclosed in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Integrated Control Centre of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to DGHS, the cumulative number of suspected measles cases in the country since 15 March this year has reached 175,198, with confirmed cases standing at 20,282.
In total, 944 suspected deaths and 100 confirmed deaths from measles have been recorded nationwide during this timeframe.
Regarding hospital management, 1,141 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,079 recovered patients were discharged.
Since 15 March, a total of 154,420 patients have been admitted to hospitals, and 148,465 patients have recovered and returned home.
Division-wise casualty records for the last 24 hours show the highest fatality count in Sylhet division with three deaths, followed by two deaths each in Dhaka and Barishal divisions, and one in Khulna division.
At the district level, Sunamganj, Barishal, and Dhaka districts reported two deaths each during the same 24-hour window.
In terms of regional case identification over the past 24 hours, Dhaka division recorded the highest number of suspected cases at 450, followed by Chattogram with 271, Sylhet with 194, Barishal with 118, Khulna with 97, Mymensingh with 63, Rajshahi with 29, and Rangpur division with 17 cases.
Meanwhile, referencing progress under the National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026, the press release noted that 18,015,064 people have been vaccinated against a divisional target of 19,803,502, achieving a coverage rate of 109.9 per cent.
In city corporation areas, 2,076,548 individuals have been vaccinated against a target of 1,905,950, reflecting a coverage of 109.0 per cent.
