Four young changemakers from Bangladesh have been recognised among 100 exceptional leaders from across the Commonwealth in the QECT 100 Young Leaders Awards 2026, marking the centenary of the birth of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Trust (QECT), established by the late monarch, announced the awardees on Tuesday, 21 April – what would have been her 100th birthday. The special initiative celebrates her enduring belief in the power of young people to strengthen communities and shape the future.
The four Bangladeshis selected as part of this distinguished global cohort are Shah Rafayat Chowdhury, Footsteps Bangladesh; Munia Islam Mozumder, Teach for Bangladesh; Imran Hamin, Farm Solution BD; and Md Rezwanul Islam Shuvo, Eco Sentinels Bangladesh.
Selected through a highly competitive process from thousands of applications, the awardees represent impactful work across education and employability, environment, food and agriculture, health, and inclusion.
The awards honour young leaders whose initiatives are transforming communities and addressing some of the Commonwealth’s most pressing challenges. Over the coming months, awardees will participate in curated engagements, capacity-building opportunities, and global networking designed to amplify their work and strengthen their impact.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke congratulated the four young leaders from Bangladesh recognised among the QECT 100.
“Their work reflects the shared Commonwealth values of inclusion and innovation and honours Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s enduring commitment to empowering young people to shape a better future,” she said.
