British actor and filmmaker Noel Clarke, known for Doctor Who, has been accused of multiple sexual offences, including sexual assault and indecent exposure.
According to Variety, the UK Crown Prosecution Service on Wednesday authorised London’s Metropolitan Police to charge Clarke after detectives submitted evidence related to the alleged incidents.
The development comes nearly a year after Clarke was arrested and police searched his London home. Detectives raided the property in late September 2025 and took the actor into custody for questioning. At the time, police did not disclose why he had been arrested. He was later released.
A police investigation into Clarke had reportedly begun earlier that month under the Central Specialist Crime Command.
The latest charges follow a separate legal battle involving The Guardian. In August 2025, Clarke lost a defamation case against the newspaper over a 2021 investigation that reported allegations of sexual misconduct made by more than 20 women.
The court ordered Clarke to pay The Guardian £3 million in legal costs. During the six-week trial, more than a dozen women gave evidence, each alleging that they had personally experienced misconduct or sexual harassment by Clarke. The actor denied the allegations.
Following the decision to authorise charges, Guardian News & Media editor-in-chief Katharine Viner told Variety that the ruling was a deserved victory for the women who had come forward over Clarke’s alleged conduct.
She said appearing in court had been difficult and emotionally demanding. Despite that, more than 20 women agreed to testify in the High Court and did not give in to intimidation or fear.
