The fire that broke out at Haji Tower in Babubazar, Old Dhaka, has been brought under control.
Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control at 8:10am on Tuesday. During the operation, they safely evacuated 17 people from the building.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, residential units are located on the upper floors of Haji Tower. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage will be determined after investigation.
No casualties have been reported so far, the Fire Service confirmed.
The fire erupted in the 14‑storey building at 6:40am. In response, nine units of the Fire Service — two from Sadarghat, five from Siddikbazar, and two from Sutrapur — rushed to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control.
