A fire that broke out on the third floor of the 11-storey LA Plaza in Mirpur-2 has been successfully brought under control, officials confirmed on Monday.
The blaze gutted the Orca Glam Bar and Spa Centre, located on the floor.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, 23 people have been rescued, including 13 men and 10 women.
One woman was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The building also houses a branch of Pubali Bank Limited. Eyewitnesses and local residents reported that the fire started around 2pm on Monday.
Firefighters arrived promptly and began tackling the blaze. Initially, four units were deployed, followed by three additional units, bringing the total to seven.
After nearly one and a half hours of firefighting operations, the blaze was successfully brought under control.
Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service, told TIMES of Bangladesh, “No fatalities have been reported.
Most people managed to evacuate the building safely, and none of the injured are in serious condition.”
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Officials said a thorough investigation will be conducted to identify the source of the blaze.
