Police have recovered the bodies of two unidentified men from separate areas in the Shahbagh area of the capital on Saturday.

The bodies were recovered from the footpath in front of the main gate of the National Eidgah and Kadam Fountain intersection around 12pm, said police.

They were later sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies.

Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Toufiq Hasan confirmed the matter, saying the bodies were recovered after police received information from locals.

The deceased were estimated to be around 65 and 45 years old.

According to the SI, locals said the two men were known to live on the streets. Police suspect they may have died due to illness.

A forensic team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been informed to help identify the bodies, he added.
