Bangladesh Cricket Board vice president Faruque Ahmed has dismissed rumours that board president Aminul Islam Bulbul may step down.
He said Bulbul is expected to return to the country after Eid.
Bulbul left Bangladesh on February 16 as there were no immediate international matches. He travelled to Melbourne to spend time with his family.
In recent days, questions were raised about his absence. There were also rumours that he might resign.
Faruque said he knows nothing about such claims.
“I don’t know anything about that matter,” Faruque told reporters after the Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association iftar event on Friday. “As far as I know, he will return after Eid.”
Faruque also spoke about a recent meeting with the State Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Haque.
He said there was no separate meeting only on cricket. Many federations were present that day.
“As you know, 52 federations were present that day. There was no separate discussion only about cricket,” he said. “He provided some guidelines and expressed his intention to bring matters under a proper salary structure. He also wanted to know what has happened over the last year. But there was no specific discussion separately.”
