Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam has stated that a fact-finding committee has been formed with the aim of uncovering information about those involved in unethical activities within the prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal. He made this announcement during a press briefing at his office on Wednesday.

The chief prosecutor said, “A complaint has come before us, and we are not taking it lightly. I have formed a five-member fact-finding committee under my leadership. The main objective of this committee is to uncover information if any member of the prosecution team or any related person is involved in any unethical activity. If evidence-based allegations are found against them, appropriate legal action will be taken.”

Chief Prosecutor Aminul Islam informed that the fact-finding committee’s activities began on Wednesday morning. He formed the committee on Tuesday.

The other members of the committee are Prosecutor Abdus Sobhan Tarafdar, Marjina Rahman Madina, Zahirul Amin, and Law Research Officer Sifatullah of the International Crimes Tribunal.

Earlier various allegations were raised against prosecutors Gazi MH Tamim and Sultan Mahmud. Most recently, on Monday, 9 March, an allegation surfaced that another prosecutor, Saimum Reza Talukder, had demanded a bribe in exchange for providing benefits to an accused in an ongoing trial.

From leaked audio recordings, it was learned that members of the prosecution team and those involved in the investigation had engaged in large-scale financial transactions in exchange for securing the acquittal of an accused in a case. Prosecutor Saimum has already resigned, causing widespread upheaval in legal and administrative circles.
