A woman, who suffered critical burn injuries in a fire caused by an apparent gas line leak at a house in Dhamrai, died on Wednesday evening while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was identified as Sumana Akhter, 45.
She passed away around 6:30pm at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, according to resident physician Dr Shawon Bin Rahman.
The physician said four members of the same family were admitted to the hospital early Wednesday after sustaining burn injuries in the explosion.
Among them, Sumana had suffered around 95 percent burns and later died from her injuries in the evening.
The other injured family members are her husband Badsha Mia, along with Arafat and Abu Bakar Siddique-sustained comparatively minor burns of about 3 percent, 2 percent and 2 percent respectively.
They are currently under observation at the hospital, he added.
