Transport owners and workers have joined traffic police in efforts to keep the road in front of the Mohakhali Bus Terminal free from congestion in the capital.
They have been providing voluntary support alongside traffic police for the past several days.
On Thursday morning, transport owners and workers took part in traffic management activities under the leadership of Humayun Kabir Khan, general secretary of the Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation.
During the drive, abandoned and unserviceable buses parked inside and outside the terminal were moved to Purbachal.
Buses carrying passengers that had been stopping in front of the terminal were directed into the terminal premises.

Humayun said transport owners and workers, along with community police and traffic police, were working jointly to improve traffic management.
He said the transport owners’ and workers’ associations had expressed solidarity with and supported the police initiative to keep the road in front of the terminal free from congestion.
As part of an ongoing volunteer programme, central leaders of the federation joined the activities on Thursday, he added.
He said the government and transport owners and workers were working to ensure that operations at the terminal do not disrupt traffic movement on the road.
According to him, transport workers are carrying out the activities in shifts day and night under the supervision of their associations.
