Ramna Batamul
The best way to start the day of Pohela Boishakh is to do it at Ramna Batamul. As dawn breaks, you can join thousands of other people gathering under the iconic banyan tree in the Ramna Park to welcome the new year with music and reflection.

After the calm sunrise spent on the Ramna Batamul, your next unmissable destination is the vibrant spectacle of the Boishakhi Shobhajatra. Organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University, this UNESCO-recognised procession is a celebration of art, culture and resistance.
People take over the streets and march with giant masks, colourful motifs and symbolic figures from our tradition, representing hope and defiance against negativity. Walking alongside the procession feels like stepping into a moving canvas.
Boishakhi Mela by The River’s Edge
After witnessing the vibrant energy of the Mangal Shobhajatra, one of the best ways to slow down and soak in the festive spirit is by visiting a Boishakhi Fair and the ‘Boishakhi Fair at The River’s Edge’ can be one such option.
Set along the riverbank near the Birulia Bridge in Ashulia, this three-day celebration brings together the essence of traditional rural fairs with the vibrancy of modern festivities. From rows of traditional handicraft stalls to authentic Bangladeshi food corners serving our traditional foods, the fair creates an atmosphere that feels deeply rooted in our culture and communities.

Laal Boishakhi 1433
Another such option is the Carpe Diem’s Laal Boishakhi 1433. Taking place at the Kamal Ataturk Park in Banani from April 12 to 14, this three day long cultural festival aims to bring together the richness and diversity of Bangla heritage through an immersive blend of music, dance, art and performance.
From soulful band performances to classical cultural showcases, the event highlights both modern and traditional expressions of Bangla identity. The lineup features some of the country’s most popular artists including Habib Wahid, Pritom Hasan, Level 5 and Nemesis.
Beyond the stage, visitors can also enjoy the traditional food stalls, art and craft exhibits and a carefully curated decoration that reflects the essence of the Bengali culture.
